On the four southern islands, North Stradbroke and Coochiemudlo, the furniture crosses on the truck, because each is served by a vehicle barge. So an island move is a normal removal with one added step: the booked crossing. The three things we plan that a mainland move doesn't need:
- 1 · Deck We book the truck onto the vehicle barge ahead — the deck is limited, so the booking, not the kerb, is what gets locked in first.
- 2 · Tide & timetable The barge runs to a timetable and the ramps work with the tide, so we time the load and the drive to make the crossing we booked.
- 3 · The extra leg We build the crossing and the queue into the day, then the short island drive at the far end, so nothing runs late.
